Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a dancing background?

Actually, contrary to popular belief, you do not need any experience dancing. Beginner classes   are fun and informational, allowing you to transition at your own pace.

I have no upper body strength. Will that be a problem?

There is no strength requirement. You will build strength over time like any other physical activity, yet in the most exciting way.

What do I wear?

All classes encourage you to dress comfortably. Keep in mind that exposing your arms, legs, stomach and back makes it easier to grip the pole. Fabric will cause you to slip off the pole which can lead to injury.

What do I bring with me?

You should bring a change of clothes. Include shorts, short sleeves, sneakers or heels. If you prefer to be barefoot finger shoes are a great alternative.

How do I stop bruising and chafing?

Both can be caused by a few reasons. The amount of pressure that you put on certain extremities while transitioning between certain positions is the most common reason. Gaining strength and the fluidity of movements can cut down on bruising and chafing.

What do I do if I have slippery hands?

Pole Grip is made for slippery hands.

Alcohol (91% is recommended) and a cotton towel used in combination helps with perspiration, excess oil/lotion or other factors that can cause slippery hands.

How do I clean my pole?

Alcohol and a cotton cloth work best. Clean when you experience build up or slipperiness.

Do I need to sign up for classes or can I just drop in?

There are many popular classes to choose from. It is best to make an appointment. It ensures you get a spot in class. Classes fill up quickly.

What if I show up late for class?

There is a grace period of 15 minutes. You can reschedule 1 time per class. There is no refund due to tardiness.

What else do I need to know?

No lotion or oil is permitted. It can cause excessive sliding or injury. No or little jewelry should be worn due to risks of being broken, snagged on fabric, or risk of hindering movements.
